Qu Yuan was a very handsome and famous ancient Chinese poet.
屈原是一个老中诗人。 他很有名的诗人，还有很帅的诗人
He wrote many poems and was also a politician. He was well loved by the people of his country since he loved his country and wanted the best for it and it's people.
屈原写了很多诗。他也是一个政治家。屈原爱他的国家，所以每个人爱屈原。
Unfortunately, Qu Yuan's popularity was seen as a threat by the King. The King accused Qu Yuan of disloyalty and exiled Qu Yuan so Qu Yuan became very sad.
但是，国王不喜欢屈原。屈原不得不离开他的国家，所以屈原难过。
While Qu Yuan was exiled, his country fell apart without his wisedom preventing the King from ruining the country. Qu Yuan became even more sad and ended up committing suicide by jumping in a river.
后来，屈原的国家被灭了。屈原很难过。他自杀了。他跳进河里。他淹死了。
As the Legend goes, either the people fed the fish so the fish wouldn't eat Qu Yuan's body, or Qu Yuan became a spirt/ghost and required food to not antagonize humans. The people threw rice into the river to appease Qu Yuan; however, a water dragon kept eating the rice balls. This prompted Qu Yuan to exasperately tell the people to wrap his rice balls in leaves so the dragon wouldn't eat it. This dish of rice wrapped in leaves became known as zong zi.

Evantually this practice evolved into people racing dragon boats to see who will get the rice that was thrown into the river.
人们也划船让鱼害怕。
